Thai Express named To Entrepreneur’s Top Food Franchises Of 2019 List
New concept is finding a foothold in suburban as well as urban areas, building a loyal client base with a colorful and reimagined approach to Thai cuisine
The Thai Express™ franchise concept continues to capture the attention of entrepreneurs and industry experts alike. Most recently the brand was named to Entrepreneur magazine’s Top Food Franchises of 2019 list, which itself is culled from its hugely popular Franchise 500 roster that appears early each year.
The food-oriented list picks apart brands by category, looking at everything from baked goods, chicken and burgers, and frozen desserts. Thai Express landed at No. 4 in the Asian food category.
Food-based franchises have strong appeal
Breaking out food into its own ranking system made sense for Entrepreneur, which reported that more than a fifth of companies that applied for its Franchise 500 ranking were food based. The editorial team took each applicant and broke them down as follows:
“These rankings are based on the scores each company received from our Franchise 500 formula, which evaluates more than 150 data points in the areas of costs and fees, size and growth, franchisee support, brand strength, and financial strength and stability,” the magazine says.
Thai Express finding strong support
Being named to the list doesn’t surprise Ray Zandi, Vice President of Business Development, who notes that Thai Express has been going strong since it entered the U.S. market from its native Canada two years ago.
“Thai Express is capturing the attention of entrepreneurs and consumers alike because it’s something entirely new in the Asian-food market segment,” Zandi says. “The menu creates hundreds of choices; the food is freshly prepared in front of guests and the restaurants themselves are beautifully decorated. It’s a real departure from what people are used to, and they are reacting in a very positive way.”
